Tooltips are enabled by default. You can disable this feature by clicking Hide Tooltips from the Design ribbon. This will disable tooltips in the current query, and may improve performance.
In this example, tooltips are enabled; the tooltip is displayed when hovering over a data point (red arrow).

Tooltips for Line and Area Charts
There are 2 types of tooltips when working with line and area charts; the tooltip behavior will depend on whether or not data points have been enabled.
